Existence is Resistance
is the latest project curated from the OBJECT:PARADISE Manifesto. The project consists of a film, book, and larger initiative to document and explore the role of culture as an act of resistance in Ukraine.
In June 2024, curators from Prague's OBJECT:PARADISE and the Prague Microfestival visited Ukraine to document the role of culture in war and the effect of war on culture during a five-day trip in Ukraine's western-most metropolitan city: Lviv.
What resulted was a 38-minute film and book which documents day-to-day challenges and new insights into the role of culture for individuals, communities, and a city that is constantly reminded that their nation's political independence is under threat from neighboring Russia.
The people we met and had the chance to interview live in an unfortunate reality where culture, itself, acts as a form of resistance against Russia's oppression.
